Clinics and Services
ADHD Medication Shared Care Agreements
We consider, at the doctor’s discretion, Shared Care Agreements for ADHD medications. Shared care means you must have ongoing reviews (at least annually) with a CQC registered provider.
Baby and Parent Checks
We do postnatal checks for the parent who gave birth, as well as the child. Once we receive a discharge summary from the maternity service, we will coordinate with you to arrange this.
After the baby has been checked, we will then offer initial vaccines. If you would like to discuss the vaccines with a doctor beforehand, our doctors are happy to discuss your queries in a non-judgemental way.
Blood Pressure Readings
Please attend your local pharmacy for a one-off blood pressure reading. If you need to monitor your blood pressure over a longer period of time, you can by a blood machine monitor from your local pharmacy.
Blood Tests and Samples
If the clinician asks you to do a blood test or provide a sample, please collect a kit/form from Reception after 2pm.
Samples (not blood) should be returned to the GP practice once completed. Note they must be given to the receptionists, and not through the letterbox as samples get damaged this way. On Fridays, we cannot accept samples after 3pm, as our last collection of the week will have gone.
Blood tests are not available at the Practice. They take place at Finchley Memorial Hospital, who offer extensive out-of-hours appointments. You must collect the form from Reception before attending the blood test service (also called phlebotomy). The contact details are available on the form you will collect from Reception
B12 Injections
Our nursing team provides B12 injections. Please be aware that, due to the nursing team’s work schedule, the course of the B12 injections may differ from what you were expecting.
Cervical Screenings
The nursing team carries out cervical screenings at the Practice. You may also be offered a screening appointment outside of the Practice.
Please note that we cannot offer cervical screenings before you are due, as per NHS policy.
If you are going to be on your period during the appointment, please call us and we will reschedule your appointment.
Childhood Immunisations
Childhood immunisations are carried out by the nursing team.
They take place at 8 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks, 1 year, and 3 years 4 months.
If your child has had vaccinations in multiple countries, our nursing team will be able to assess any records you provide us to check which additional vaccines are needed.
Clinical Pharmacist Services
We work with 2 types of clinical pharmacist: local pharmacists and in-house pharmacists.
Local pharmacists
These work in pharmacies in the community, and are most known for being where you can order and collect prescriptions.
They also provide a service called Pharmacy First. This means you can get treatment for a minor illness without needing to see a GP first.
They can deal with:
- UTIs among women
- Shingles
- Impetigo
- Infected insect bites
- Acute sore throat
- Acute sinus infections
- Acute otitis media (a type of ear infection)
If they cannot help you, they will refer you to the correct service.
If we know that they can help you, the triage clinician may refer you to your local pharmacy.
You can also get your blood pressure checked there.
In-house pharmacists
These work closely with our GPs, and are highly trained to deal with a range of medication queries.
As well as dealing with questions and reviews of your medications, our clinical pharmacist is the designated clinician for asthma, diabetes and blood pressure reviews.
Contraception and Fertility Clinics
Contraception can be obtained from a local centre, Archway Sexual Health Centre. They can be contacted via 020 3317 5252.
They also provide emergency contraception.
If you are having fertility concerns, please book two appointments for you and your partner. The doctor can arrange tests for you, and then send off referrals if needed.
Eye Care
We have an arrangement with a local eye clinic, called Evolutio, which deals with all concerns regarding issues with your eyes. To contact them, please call 0800 112 0070. Additionally, we may refer you to Evolutio if we believe this is the most appropriate service for you.
Fit Notes
If you have been off work for 7 days or less, you cannot get a GP fit note. Your employer is legally obliged to accept a self-certify fit note, which is available via the government's website.
If you are off for more than 7 days, you will need to book a same-day appointment via the usual method, as we cannot issue a fit note without consulting you, either over the phone or face-to-face. Note that we cannot pre-date or back-date fit notes.
Gender-affirming Hormones Shared Care Agreements
We consider, at the doctor’s discretion, Shared Care Agreements for gender-affirming medication. Shared care means you must have ongoing reviews (at least annually) with a CQC-registered provider.
Please see the guidance on the changing your contact details page for other advice you may need regarding changing how the practice communicates with you.
Interpreting Services
You can use interpreters with all members of staff at the Practice. They are available via telephone. You can request a male or female interpreter.
You can also use the Dals Telephone Interpreting Relay Service to contact us with an interpreter already on the phone by calling 033 0088 2443 and adding the PIN: 93372196.
Learning Disability Reviews
If you or someone you support is on our Learning Disability Register, we provide annual checkups to ensure you are receiving appropriate support. This is organised automatically, so you do not need to contact us to arrange this.
Long Term Condition Case Finder
We are part of a scheme that helps to identify people who potentially live with long-term conditions that are not yet diagnosed.
If you meet certain criteria, we will contact you routinely and arrange some checks and tests for you.
Identifying long-term conditions early is important, and helps us to manage conditions before they may worsen.
Long Term Condition Reviews
We understand that managing long-term conditions, such as diabetes and COPD, can be challenging. Therefore, we organise routine review appointments with a GP to ensure that you are receiving appropriate support.
Our care coordinator will contact you to book these appointments.
Maternity Services
If you are pregnant, all important details are available on our Maternity and Parenting page.
Medication Reviews
These are a routine, important part of your care, as ensuring you are on the correct medications and correct dosage is important for managing your conditions.
These are conducted either by our in-house pharmacist, or by a pharmacist who works for the network of GP practices we belong to in Barnet.
Menopause Clinics
Our GPs refer patients to a local menopause clinic, run by a doctor. If you would like to be referred to this clinic, please contact Reception, as you can be referred without seeing a GP first.
Mental Health Practitioners
We work with a team of mental health practitioners, who offer mental health support, and who can also help you to decide what other support would be most appropriate for your individual needs. Please speak to Reception if you would like to be booked an appointment with this team.
Please also see the information on our Mental Health Support page
NHS Health Check
The NHS Health Check is a free check-up of your health for those aged over 40 without any major long-term physical health conditions.
You will be first offered a blood test, and once we have the results, you will be given an appointment with a member of the nursing team who will explain the results to you, and ask you some additional questions about your health and lifestyle.
Physiotherapy
The physiotherapy team has staff with different roles:
- First contact practitioners: provide one-off appointments to discuss exercises to manage joint pain, and can refer to physiotherapy if appropriate
- Physiotherapists: offer exercises and strategies to overcome challenges with mobility and work, and can order scans to best support your rehabilitation
Please contact Reception if you would like to be booked with the physiotherapy team directly. Sometimes, the triage clinician may also refer you directly to the physiotherapy team if appropriate.
Private Letters
Private letters are not covered by the NHS, and including letters for insurance companies, travel cancellations and health checks for jobs, among many others. Please contact Reception to make sure you get quoted the correct price.
We can provide private referrals for free, but please be aware that we are not obliged to follow advice from private doctors, as their guidance may differ from NHS regulations. If you want to move back to NHS care, we are happy to support that.
Prostate Injections
We provide prostate injections for certain patients with prostate cancer. You will get a 20-minute appointment with a GP.
You will need to bring the prostate injection with you to the appointment. This will be prescribed by the doctor before the appointment, giving you plenty of time to collect it.
Seasonal Vaccinations
Seasonal vaccinations, for influenza (flu), COVID and RSV, are provided by the Practice to those meeting certain criteria.
We will contact those who are eligible at the start of the season, and can provide home visits for those who have been deemed to be housebound by a doctor.
Shingles Vaccinations
You are eligible for a shingles vaccine. It is available on the NHS for all adults turning 65, those aged 70 to 79, and those aged 50 or over with a severely weakened immune system.
You will get 2 doses of the vaccine, given between 6 and 12 months apart.
Social Prescribing Services
The Practice appreciates the relationship between your mental health, physical health, and other non-medical challenges you face in your life.
For non-medical issues, you can get support from someone called a social prescriber. Issues they can help with include:
- Benefit support, employment support and financial advice
- Refugee and asylum seeker advice
- Bereavement support
- Carer support
Travel Clinics
If you are travelling abroad, please contact Reception and we can book you in with our travel nursing team. You must book more than 6 weeks before you travel to ensure the vaccinations have had time to work and give you protection.
Not all vaccines are free on the NHS. Those which are free are: hepatitis A, typhoid, diphtheria, tetanus and polio.
We can also order hepatitis B vaccinations. You will need 3 doses (1 dose is £50). The 2nd dose must be 1 month after the 1st, and the 3rd must be 6 months later.
Please note that GP practices are not obliged to provide hepatitis B vaccinations for work purposes.
Weight Loss and Mounjaro Services
As per local guidance, GPs are unable to prescribe Mounjaro, which is also called tirzepatide. It can only be prescribed locally by a specialist weight management service under very strict conditions.
The requirements for Mounjaro are:
- BMI over 40 (37.5 for some ethnic backgrounds)
- And 4 of 5 of these conditions:
- High cholesterol
- High blood pressure
- Obstructive sleep apnoea (a type of sleeping difficulty)
- Cardiovascular disease (a condition affecting your heart)
- Type 2 diabetes mellitus
If you would like to discuss other options for weight loss, our clinicians are happy to discuss this with you.
